<p style="white-space: normal;">The Fast-Neutron Counter</p><p style="white-space: normal;">The Diamond Fast-Neutron Monitor is designed for neutron flux monitoring in fusion reactor applications. High neutron flux rates are measured with the C2-HV Broadband Amplifier, while high-precision neutron spectroscopy is performed with the Cx-L Spectroscopic Amplifier. Both amplifiers allow the installation of a 10 m long detector cable between detector and amplifier, for operation in high-radiation environments.</p><p><br/></p>

A highly enriched <span style="position: relative; vertical-align: baseline; top: -0.4em;">6</span>LiF layer is used as thermal neutron converter, where the <span style="position: relative; vertical-align: baseline; top: -0.4em;">6</span>Li(n,α)<span style="position: relative; vertical-align: baseline; top: -0.4em;">3</span>H reaction is used for neutron detection. The monitor is optimized for high count rates and allows using cables up to 10 m length between detector and amplifier, to enable the usage in high-radiation environments.</p><p><br/></p>

It is used for the neutron beam monitoring in mono-energetic fast neutron beams at Van de Graaff and Tandem accelerators. The detection of fast-neutrons is based on the well known <span style="position: relative; vertical-align: baseline; top: -0.4em;">1</span>H(n,p)n reaction, where the neutron energy is determined by measuring the energy deposited in the Diamond Telescope Detector by proton recoils. <br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"/><br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"/>The <span style="border: 0px; list-style-type: none; color: rgb(173, 0, 0);"><span style="border: 0px; list-style-type: none; font-family: Helvetica;"><strong style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; list-style-type: none;">ROSY</strong><span style="position: relative; vertical-align: baseline; top: -0.4em;">®</span></span></span> AX106 readout system completes the A8 Diamond Proton Recoil Telescope to a ready-to-use neutron beam monitoring system. It provides real-time neutron spectra of all 4 telescope sensors for monitoring purposes, as well as the real-time coincidence spectrum of the proton recoils.</p><p><br/></p>
